LG today officially announced that it will update its LG G Pad tablet to Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system, first in Korea and then in the rest of the world.
As LG stated, tablets that will get Android Lollipop update are the LG G Pad 8.3, LG G Pad 7.0, LG G Pad 8.0 and LG G Pad 10.1. Here of course we note that LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition got its Android Lollipop update a few months ago. While the LG G Pad 8.3 released back in 2013, the other three tablets are more recent, dating back from the last year.
It is interesting to note that they are all based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor 400, have 1 GB of RAM and a screen with a resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels. None of these devices are high-end and it is commendable for LG that they receive the latest operating system.
The actual speed of the tablet isn’t stellar. It’s fast enough and most tablet users will be satisfied, but after playing with a ton of these Android devices we do notice that chopping and changing between apps isn’t quite as quick as we’d hope. It’s still a zippy tablet, but if you’re looking for the most powerful and fastest device, this probably won’t top your list – it is ideally suited to the budget consumer.
